Skills a Designer of Client Websites Needs

  • Hands-on experience building websites yourself, not only editing content on existing pages.
  • Strong WordPress skills with at least one page builder.
  • A working understanding of domains, DNS and web hosting.
  • A portfolio of live sites you built. Link it in your application.
  • Clear written and spoken communication.

You are not expected to be an automation engineer or an SEO specialist. SEO has its own role, and training covers the workflows you will use.

About the Remote Website Designer Job

TK WebHosts is hiring a website designer to design, build and deploy websites and landing pages for clients, mostly on WordPress. The role covers the whole build, from layout and responsive design to connecting the domain and hosting, and keeping sites fast, secure and up to date after launch.

Website Designer Responsibilities

  • Design and build website pages, features and landing pages with a focus on UI, UX, accessibility and mobile.
  • Build WordPress pages from themes using page builders such as Elementor or Divi.
  • Connect domains to hosting and handle the DNS changes a launch needs.
  • Work in hosting control panels such as cPanel, including file managers and backups.
  • Maintain client sites after launch: updates, performance, security and uptime.
  • Report progress, risks and results through the daily team calls and scheduled updates.

How the Website Designer Role Works

  • Fully remote. There is no office to attend and no relocation.
  • A full-time role, working agreed weekday hours.
  • Two short team calls each weekday, at 09:00 and 15:30 UK time. Attending them is part of the role.
  • A stable internet connection and a quiet place to work during agreed hours.

What the Website Designer Gets

  • Direct mentorship and regular feedback from senior leadership.
  • Internal training, documentation and process playbooks from the first day.
  • Training on the automation and AI-assisted workflows already in place. No prior experience with them is needed.
  • Reimbursement for essential business tools and software.
  • Room to take on more responsibility and ownership as you prove yourself.

How the Website Designer Hiring Process Works

  1. Apply online. Send the short form on the role page with a link to work you have done yourself. Every application is read.
  2. Structured interview. A 30-minute video call. The same questions go to every candidate, scored on the answers and on work you can show.
  3. Practical stage. A role-specific task or role-play, plus a check that your connection and workstation hold up on a live call.
  4. Offer and review. A written offer, then a documented review at 30, 60 and 90 days.
