Free WordPress plugin FAQs

Are these plugins really free?

Yes. They are GPL v2 or later, the same license WordPress itself uses. There is no paid tier, no license key and no account to create. Download the zip and use it, on as many sites as you like, including client sites.

Why give plugins away?

They come out of client work. Once something is written and maintained for our own installs, releasing it costs us nothing and saves somebody else writing it again.

Do they phone home or collect data?

No. Our plugins make no external requests, load nothing from a third-party domain and send us no usage data. What runs on your site stays on your site.

Will they keep working?

They are maintained rather than abandoned after release. We run them on our own sites, so a break shows up for us at the same time it shows up for you.

Can I edit the code?

Yes. The GPL gives you the right to modify and redistribute it. A single-file plugin is deliberately easy to read and change.

Need the site built, not just the plugin?

We build, host and maintain WordPress sites. Tell us what you run and we will reply with the right next step in writing.
