How the AI Visibility Checker Scores a Website

The checker reads the homepage and up to four linked pages, such as About, pricing, two service pages and Contact, plus robots.txt, the sitemap and llms.txt. It scores what it finds in two halves.

Technical Readiness in the AI Visibility Score

Eight checks worth 100 points: robots.txt and sitemap (5), access for AI search and answer crawlers (25), access for AI training crawlers (5), a CDN and firewall check that compares what bots and browsers receive (5), text readable without JavaScript (15), page metadata (35), Organization schema (5) and an optional llms.txt (5).

Content Readiness in the AI Visibility Score

Five ratings out of 100: answers that can be quoted on their own, how plainly the business says who it is, which buyer questions are answered, evidence specific enough to cite, and why a buyer would choose this business. Every quote shown is checked word for word against the page it came from.

Limits

What the AI Visibility Checker Does Not Measure

This is a readiness check, not a ranking report. It does not ask ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google real buyer questions and record whether a site is mentioned or which competitors are. It does not measure traffic, rankings or citations already earned, and it reads up to five pages, not the whole site.

FAQs

AI Visibility Checker FAQ

What is AI visibility?

AI visibility is how easily AI answer engines such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews can find, read and quote a website when someone asks a question. It depends on technical access, such as robots.txt rules and pages that load without JavaScript, and on content that answers buyer questions plainly with specific, checkable details.

How is the AI visibility score calculated?

The score is half technical and half content. The technical half adds up eight checks worth 100 points, from crawler access to page metadata. The content half averages five ratings out of 100, each backed by quotes from the pages that were read. When the content check cannot run, the technical score is shown on its own instead of a blended number.

Does blocking GPTBot lower AI visibility?

Only a little. GPTBot and the other training crawlers collect content for future models, and blocking them costs at most 5 of the 100 technical points. The crawlers that decide citations are the answer-time agents, such as OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User and PerplexityBot. Blocking those is what keeps AI answers from quoting a site, and it costs up to 25 points.

Is llms.txt needed for AI visibility?

No. llms.txt is an optional file that lists a site’s key pages for AI tools, and no major AI search engine has confirmed that it reads it. The checker gives it 5 of the 100 technical points, so it helps a little, but crawler access, readable pages and clear answers matter far more.

How often can a site be checked?

Each visitor gets three free checks every 30 days. A site’s full result is kept for five hours, so checking the same site again within that time shows the saved result with its scan time. For more checks, or a full review of the findings, book a free consultation.
