TK SEO Engine — Free WordPress SEO Plugin

TK SEO Engine

TK SEO Engine puts the technical SEO basics on every WordPress page: one title tag, one meta description, a canonical URL, robots tags, Open Graph and a single schema.org graph. When Yoast SEO or Rank Math is active, it steps aside.

What TK SEO Engine adds to every WordPress page

Exactly one of each tag per page, and never a generator tag or an HTML comment advertising the plugin.

TK SEO Engine title tags and meta descriptions

One title and one description per page, built from the post, its category or the site settings when you have not written your own. The separator and the site-name suffix are both settings.

Canonical URLs and robots meta tags

A canonical on every indexable page, noindex and nofollow per post or per archive, and author and date archives kept out of the index by default.

Open Graph and Twitter Card tags

Social title, description and image per post, with a site-wide default image and your X handle, so shared links show a proper card.

TK SEO Engine structured data: one schema.org graph

A single JSON-LD graph per page rather than separate blocks that contradict each other.

Organization or LocalBusiness schema

Your business name, logo, social profiles and, for a local business, address, phone, opening hours and coordinates. Posts can credit the business or a named Person as author.

WebPage, Article and BreadcrumbList schema

Pages are described as a WebPage or CollectionPage and posts as an Article. Posts, pages and category archives carry a breadcrumb trail, with parent pages and the primary category in it.

Service schema for service pages

Mark a page as a service and add its name, description, area served and an optional price. Leave the price blank and no offer is published.

TK SEO Engine alongside Yoast SEO, Rank Math, AIOSEO and SEOPress

Built to be installed next to an existing SEO plugin without a clash, and to take over cleanly when it goes.

TK SEO Engine steps aside for another SEO plugin

While Yoast SEO, Rank Math, All in One SEO or SEOPress is active, TK SEO Engine prints nothing, so a page never carries two titles or two schema graphs.

Yoast SEO and Rank Math values as fallbacks

Titles, descriptions, canonicals and social fields already saved by Yoast SEO or Rank Math are used until you set your own, so switching loses nothing.

WP-CLI import and audit commands

wp tk-seo import yoast copies Yoast SEO or Rank Math data across for good, with --dry-run to preview. wp tk-seo audit fetches pages and checks each has single tags and valid schema.

Editing SEO titles and descriptions in TK SEO Engine

Everything lives in the WordPress screens you already use. There is no separate dashboard.

Search and Social box on posts and pages

SEO title and meta description with live length counters, canonical URL, noindex and nofollow, primary category, and the social title, description and image.

SEO fields on categories and tags

A title, a description and a noindex switch on every category and tag archive.

Site settings under Settings, SEO Engine

Business details, the homepage title and description, a default social image, and the Google and Bing verification codes. Structured data can be switched off where a theme already outputs its own.

What TK SEO Engine deliberately leaves out

Fewer features, each done once and done properly.

No XML sitemap in TK SEO Engine

WordPress core already publishes one at /wp-sitemap.xml. A second sitemap would only compete with it.

No redirects or robots.txt editor

Redirects belong in the server or a dedicated plugin, and robots.txt is better as a file you can read.

No content scoring, FAQ schema or hreflang

No traffic lights grading your writing. Google no longer shows FAQ rich results for most sites, and hreflang needs a translation plugin to be right.

TK SEO Engine FAQs

Is TK SEO Engine free?

Yes. TK SEO Engine is GPL v2 or later, the same license WordPress uses. There is no pro tier, no license key and no account to create. Use it on as many sites as you like, including client sites.

Does TK SEO Engine work with Yoast SEO or Rank Math?

It steps aside for them. When Yoast SEO, Rank Math, All in One SEO or SEOPress is active, TK SEO Engine adds nothing to the page, so there are never two sets of tags. Deactivate the other plugin and it takes over.

Can I switch from Yoast SEO to TK SEO Engine without losing my titles?

Yes. TK SEO Engine reads titles and descriptions already stored by Yoast SEO and Rank Math and uses them until you set your own. To copy them across permanently, run wp tk-seo import yoast (or rankmath); add --dry-run first to see what would change.

Does TK SEO Engine create an XML sitemap?

No. WordPress has shipped its own XML sitemap at /wp-sitemap.xml since version 5.5, so a second one would only compete with it. Redirects, robots.txt editing, content scoring, FAQ schema and hreflang are also left out.

Does TK SEO Engine send data anywhere?

No. Nothing is fetched or sent when a page loads, and no usage data leaves your site. The only outbound request it can make is the wp tk-seo audit command fetching the pages you name, from your own server.

Does TK SEO Engine work on WordPress multisite?

Yes. It is activated network-wide, and every site in the network keeps its own settings, business details and verification codes.

Will TK SEO Engine improve my rankings?

It gets the technical layer right: one title, one description, a correct canonical and valid structured data on every page. Rankings still depend on your content, links and competition, so no plugin can promise them.

How do I install TK SEO Engine?

Download the zip, then in WordPress go to Plugins, Add New, Upload Plugin, choose the file and activate. On multisite, upload it from Network Admin, Plugins. Settings are under Settings, SEO Engine.
