LAGOS, October 13, 2026 — TK WebHosts, a global web hosting and domain company, today set out why it believes it is the best place for a Nigerian business to register a .ng domain. It sells .ng domains through its Nigerian arm, TKWEBHOSTS LIMITED, an accredited registrar of the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA). It also announced its aim to help 5 million Nigerian businesses own their presence online, with a .ng domain, a website and business email.

Why Nigerian businesses need to own their address online

The World Bank’s latest Enterprise Survey of Nigeria (2025) shows the size of the gap. Just 35.7% of formal private-sector firms have their own website, which leaves 64.3% without one (World Bank Enterprise Surveys, Nigeria 2025; indicator data). The smaller the firm, the wider the gap:

Firm sizeWith its own websiteWithout one
Small (5–19 employees)27.4%72.6%
Medium (20–99 employees)44.9%55.1%
Large (100+ employees)79.2%20.8%

The gap runs across sectors. Only 31.4% of manufacturing firms and 37.1% of service firms have a website of their own.

Those figures cover only formal firms with five or more employees. Nigeria has 39.65 million micro, small and medium enterprises, and 96.9% of them are micro businesses that the survey does not measure (NBS/SMEDAN MSME survey, cited in PwC’s MSME Survey 2024). Nigeria’s own domain tells the same story. There are about 240,000 .ng domains for more than 242 million people, while South Africa, with 65.4 million people, has about 1.4 million .za domains (Technology Times).

The gap is closing, but slowly. In 2014, 22.3% of formal Nigerian firms had a website; among small firms, the figure has risen from 14.8% to 27.4% since then. The World Bank’s Nigeria Digital Economy Diagnostic found that many businesses are still excluded from the digital economy by limited broadband access and a lack of adequate devices. For businesses that are connected, a domain and website of their own should be a simple, affordable next step. TK WebHosts aims to make it one.

Why TK WebHosts is the best place to register a .ng domain

TK WebHosts has been trading since 2012. Its Nigerian arm, TKWEBHOSTS LIMITED, is listed in NiRA’s business directory of accredited registrars (NiRA directory listing). TK WebHosts built its .ng pricing from scratch, with no legacy model to protect, around what a business should be able to expect from its registrar:

  • The lowest flat price it has found, at renewal too. A .ng domain costs ₦14,850 a year and a .com.ng costs ₦6,150, and both renew at the same price. There is no first-year rate that jumps in year two. Customers paying in US dollars can register a .ng for $10.00 a year and a .com.ng for $5.46. Prices are correct as of October 13, 2026.
  • Domains held in the business’s own name. Domains are registered directly at the .ng registry, with no reseller in between. The business remains the registrant and keeps control of transfers, nameservers and account access.
  • Free, fast transfers. Moving an existing .ng or .com.ng domain to TK WebHosts is free, and the domain keeps its expiry date. Because NiRA places no transfer lock on newly registered .ng names, a transfer completes as soon as the domain is unlocked and its authorization (EPP) code is supplied.
  • Everything in one place. Most registrations are active within minutes of payment. TK WebHosts then connects the domain to the business’s website and email, and provides the hosting, business email and website design to go with it. Customers can pay in naira, US dollars, pounds or euros.

“We built our .ng pricing the way we’d want it as a customer: no cheap first year, no expensive renewal,” said a TK WebHosts spokesperson. “That means one fair price every year, the domain in your own name, and free transfers if you want to move. We believe that makes us the best registrar in Nigeria, and we invite any business to compare our renewal prices, not just the first-year offers.”

“Most Nigerian businesses already trade online, on WhatsApp, Instagram and marketplaces, but very few own their address on the internet,” the spokesperson added. “A business that owns its domain, website and email can be found, can be trusted, and keeps its customers when a platform changes its rules. The World Bank’s figures show how many businesses are still missing that foundation. Our goal is to help 5 million of them build it, starting with a .ng name at a renewal price that matches what you paid to register.”

Businesses can check whether their name is available, register a domain or transfer one in at TK WebHosts .ng domains.
