What is VPS hosting?
A virtual private server gives you a reserved slice of a physical server — your own vCPU cores, RAM and NVMe storage — isolated from other customers. Unlike shared hosting, those resources belong to you, and you control the operating system and the software stack running on it.
What is the difference between a self-managed and a managed VPS?
On a self-managed VPS you administer the server yourself: operating system, updates, security and software. On a managed VPS our engineers take that work on — setup, hardening, updates, monitoring and fixes — so you use the server without running it. Managed cover is scoped and quoted in writing based on what you actually need.
Are the prices on this page in pounds?
Yes. Every figure on this page is in GBP and billed by TK WebHosts Ltd through our client portal, alongside any domains, hosting or email we already run for you. There is no currency conversion at checkout.
How quickly is my VPS ready?
Provisioning is done by our engineers rather than an automated queue, and your server is ready within 24 hours of order confirmation. You receive access credentials, connection details and a short written summary of what was set up.
Which operating systems can I run?
Popular Linux distributions are available. Tell us which distribution and version you want when you order and we provision it. If you are not sure, describe what you plan to run and we will recommend one.
Do I get full root access?
Yes. Self-managed plans come with full root access, so you can install and configure anything the operating system supports. On managed plans root access is available on request while day-to-day administration stays with us.
What happens to the price at renewal?
The promotional price applies to your first annual term. Plans then renew at the standard rate: VPS 1 at £10.99 per month, VPS 2 at £12.99 per month, VPS 4 at £24.99 per month and VPS 8 at £39.99 per month. Monthly billing is charged at the standard rate from the start. We state this up front so there is nothing to discover in year two.
Can I upgrade my VPS plan later?
Yes. You can move up to a larger plan as your workload grows. We handle the resize and schedule it with you to keep interruption to a minimum.
Can you migrate my existing server or website to your VPS?
Yes. We move your applications, files, databases and configuration across from your current provider, verify everything works and coordinate the cutover with you. The scope is confirmed in writing before we start.
Do I need a VPS or is web hosting enough?
Shared web hosting suits most brochure sites and small WordPress sites. Choose a VPS when you need guaranteed resources, root access, custom software, several sites or applications on one server, or steadier performance under load. If you are unsure, describe the workload and we will recommend the right fit in writing.
